It’s important to us that our products contribute to a happier and healthier earth, so our toothbrushes, floss picks and all our packaging are biodegradable. Once the bamboo handle is buried in soil, they begin to break down and decompose within six months, having as little impact on the environment as possible.
You may already know that discarded plastic toothbrushes contribute to over 100,000 tonnes of landfill waste globally each year. Because plastic takes around 1,000 years to break down, these (increasing) volumes are causing serious and long-lasting damage to the environment – especially marine life.
So, we’ve used the most effective and advanced additives and manufacturing methods to make sure your PearlBar squad breaks down naturally when needed. Happy earth, happy us!
Bamboo toothbrush handle
Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on earth. It’s naturally regenerative, requires minimal rain and grows without the use of harmful pesticides. As a result, it’s incredibly abundant.
In fact, by harvesting and using bamboo, we are giving purpose to an overpopulated natural resource by helping to control its unwanted spread into agricultural and natural forest areas.
Floss pick handle, charcoal bristles and packaging
They’re made with oxo-biodegradable plastic, which uses technology that converts products into biodegradable materials once they’re ready to be returned to the earth.
Our charcoal-infused bristles are made from eco-enhanced nylon, which is also 100% biodegradable. This is a far cry from traditional floss, made from nylon coated with wax which only clogs and pollutes the environment.
For best biodegradability, place floss picks + toothbrush bristles in recycling for these to break down in oxygen and sunlight.
